Biomimicry & Food

Once we have learned the basics of biomimicry, is time to apply this concepts to our project. So the question is, how can we be inspired by nature in order to apply to human feeding (food and water)?

Once we have learned the basics of biomimicry, is time to apply this concepts to our project. So the question is, how can we be inspired by nature in order to apply to human feeding (food and water)?

First, we had to decide what we wanted our design to do. So as we conclude that our design should provide food and clean water to our community in a way that we use the less energy we can, getting this energy mainly of renewable energies. Also, it is very important to import the less things we can from the outside. Additionally, we should provide clean water to the population and be more efficient in the distribution of the food. Non-negotiables for our design are being self-efficient and resource efficient.

Once we have analized what we wanted to do, it is time to find some models in the nature which could help us in our design. And I have to remark that this is an amazing step to work in. It is absolutely amazing how camels can store water, how colonies of ants distribute food after a famine, how snakes can protect from dehydratation by their skin or how can snakes, again, can conserve resources just-in-time.

From now on, we have the job of learning from nature and its models and create ours based on all those things we've learnt.
