note 93

Patrice Riemens, who was 38 at the time, was originally a scholar in social geography. Over the last decade he has inspired media theory with his rigorous observations. He is a regular contributor to the mailing list Nettime.org and invented the ‘slacker salon’, a special gathering place that opens its doors all over the planet when hackers have conferences and meet physically. Today Patrice Riemens is a fellow of the Waag Society and is a board member of Tactical Tech, the open source initiative of the Open Society Institute, the former Soros Foundation.
