Professionalism means efficiency.

When contact between people takes place on a professional level it is very purposeful. But it doesn’t involve real engagement. Engagement benefits from openness, and we are only open when a situation is unpredictable and requires us to be alert to unexpected things.

I often ask non-professionals to participate in a concert.
With young students and amateurs, you can feel the excitement and sense of adventure.
Of course you shouldn’t have them doing things professionals can do much better, but you should create a role for them that allows them to do simple things with complete dedication.
